The Lego brick's history begins in 1949 with the introduction of "Automatic Binding Bricks" by the LEGO Group, inspired by British Kiddicraft bricks. These early plastic bricks, though not the same design as today's, were a significant step towards the interlocking system. Further development in 1958, with the addition of tubes and studs for improved grip, led to the modern LEGO brick. This design became the foundation of the LEGO System of Play, where all bricks could interlock and be used together, revolutionizing the toy industry.
